So, is Microsoft considered "West Coast" then since they're in rough & tumble Redmond? I'm waiting for the t-shirt that says "Vista Mista" and maybe I'll spring the $40 they'll probably want...As Krista mentioned they're so pitiful and yet I can't produce a drop of pity for a company that dug their own hole.

Krista, I'm laughing so hard at your analysis of Microsoft - so true!

I'm glad you found Women On Business, too. Welcome!

Hi Susan
I came by via About.com and of course, I couldn't help but visit and sign up for Women on Business. ;-) I run my own women entrepreneurs' group too and I would love to know how other business women think.

Microsoft has always reminded me of a geeky kid who tries so hard to belong but always fails, not knowing that if he only focused on using his geekiness as a strength (and like Marc said, improve its slew of products), we'd all root for the geeks. But Microsoft always wants to look and act 'hip' despite not being very hip - I think a branding problem occurred somewhere in its past. They try all sorts of stuff to be cool but end up being pitied instead. Poor Microsoft!
