Peace of mind, something customers could definitely use right now. Here in Germany, Merck, the world’s oldest chemical company (EMD in the States), has been plugging away it at for a good year or so. On products as well as at a corporate level.
For 2010 and beyond I reckon a lot of messaging will focus on “restraint”, riding on the back of naughty banks, overindulgence, fat-cat director payouts etc. Even poor old Prince Charles is being told to cancel skiing holidays.
If Kondratiev with his famous economic wave is anything to go by, in the 2010s we’ll have reached saturation point again…

I completely agree, Alex. Restraint is a big one and will dominate a lot of marketing messages in 2010!
