I’m assuming you’ve seen the hilarious commercial for the Snuggie – the blanket with sleeves.  Of course, the commercial isn’t meant to be funny, but it is — really funny.  What’s funnier than the commercial is the cult of Snuggie users that has developed around the product.  It seems like people either love the Snuggie and find it liberating or hate it and wonder why one would ever buy a Snuggie.  For the Snuggie-lovers out there, a new charity event called the Snuggie Bar Crawl is sweeping the nation.  One thing is for certain, the Snuggie gets a lot of word-of-mouth marketing.  It’s closing in on the Sham-Wow.

In case you haven’t seen the full Snuggie commercial, you can check it out below.  I laughed out loud the first time I saw this and the person I was watching with noticed that the grandfather character looked like he was wearing a KKK robe minus the hood.  I guess he wasn’t the only person who noticed that because the same concept is included on a YouTube parody video (check that out below, too).

First up – the original (real) Snuggie commercial.

Next, the parody with the KKK reference.

Finally, a very funny parody that made me laugh out loud (warning, this one includes curse words).

My blood red Snuggie keeps me warm while worshiping my dark master…I’m still waiting for them to add “Dark Abyss” black to their color selection before I order another.

Few people know that the Snuggie was developed from the original costume planned for Darth Vader, but then Lucas went with the whole electronic/mechanized suit with helmet.

Too funny! I remember my kids wanted one until they realized, Jeepers mom, our houserobes do the same thing! 🙂
