What’s G? The Secret is Out

On Thursday night, I was watching The Daily Show with Jon Stewart when a commercial came on with many famous faces but little else, save the letter G at the end.  I was left wondering, “What the heck was that?”

Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who had that reaction.  However, I wasn’t one of the many people who Googled it afterwards.  According to an article that I saw on AdAge.com yesterday, searches for “G” were on fire (“volcanic” actually) after the commercial debuted on January 1st (I know I’m late, my excuse is – I have 4-year old triplets).

Marketers are all abuzz about the commercial and questioning whether it’s a branding mistake that won’t generate ROI.  What do you think?  Is the new G commercial a hit or miss for Gatorade’s G product (yes, that’s who’s behind the mystery commercial)?  Check it out below if you haven’t seen it yet.

That sparked a “volcanic” response??? It’s JUST a beverage, I’m not fooled. All I was reminded of was a few years ago when it became fashionable for guys to call each other “G” instead of “guy”, like “Yo! G! How you doin’?”.

I think the answer is Simple! They asked a Question, Whats “G” thats all you really need to do to engage a prospect. I’m not surprised it was volcanic. I could use just one Volcanic search on Google! Good luck with the Triplets I’m an Identical twin.

I wonder what the triplets names are; do they rhyme; are they Identical; do they all want to be fed at once; do you dress them alike; are they all boys; are you worried about college expenses?

See Questions work, they make people think!
